Louis Danso, the current Branch Chairman for Melbourne, had a few conversations with Paa Mensah Brown, a mentor and respectable fellow who has good standing in the Melbourne community, about the intentions of starting an NDC branch in Melbourne. Paa Mensah Brown directed Louis Danso to a contact at the NDC Head Office in Ghana. The process started with mobilising a few friends and they all bought into the idea and started meeting unofficially via Zoom.
Unknown to this group, NDC Australia had already started, so they got in touch with the Sydney representative at that time, in the person of Bright Setor. After a few conversations the group started to meet officially. The group later met another group who were also starting to form a branch in Melbourne. Their leader Jerome and Kelly Thompson, agreed with the Melbourne Branch to merge the two groups. The branch was officially inaugurated in December 2023, with the following executives sworn into office at the branch level:
